Leah B. Schock, PhD has provided neuropsychological assessment services in Central Oregon for more than 20 years, evaluating brain-based relationships to support improved daily functioning. She brings her knowledge of cognition and psychological functioning into the college search arena, working with the Cascade College Advisors team in providing holistic student and family guidance.
Leah graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1992 where she double majored in Spanish and Psychology. During her educational career, Leah greatly enjoyed studying abroad in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, and later volunteered providing mental health services in Peru. She obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX in 1997 and continued on to complete postdoctoral speciality training in adult neuropsychology. She spent two years in Portland at OHSU before relocating to Bend. Here she has worked at St. Charles and in private practice. In her psychological work she assesses cognitive functioning and identifies memory, attention, learning, and thinking challenges. Leah received her College Counseling Certification, with distinction, from UCLA. She was drawn to the college search process and finding the right “fit” for students after partnering with her own daughter when looking at schools. Leah feels that understanding the values, learning styles and personality characteristics of a student can help identify educational environments where they can thrive. In her free time, Leah enjoys spending time with her family, cycling, skiing, hiking and equestrian sports.
